Search the Quran with Partial or Exact Word Matches Inside Word
Introduction
The Mushaf Word Plugin isn’t just about inserting verses — it’s also a powerful Quranic search engine built into Microsoft Word. Whether you’re unsure of the exact wording or only remember a part of the word, the plugin gives you the flexibility to search the Quran by partial words or exact matches using simple keyboard shortcuts.
1. Partial Word Search: Broader, More Flexible
Sometimes, you may remember only a fragment of a word from a verse. The plugin allows you to search using just that part, and it will list all verses that contain any word that includes that fragment.
How to Use:
- Type the partial word (e.g.,
فسيكف) - Press ESC or CTRL + SHIFT + A
🔹 Example:
Searching for فسيكف will bring up the verse:
“فَسَيَكْفِيكَهُمُ اللَّهُ ۚ وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ”
(Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:137)
This feature is invaluable when you’re not sure about the full spelling or form of the word.
2. Exact Match Search: Highly Specific Results
When you need precise and accurate results, the plugin allows you to search for an exact match. It will only return verses where the word appears exactly as written, with no prefixes or suffixes.
How to Use:
- Type the exact word (e.g.,
حوبا) - Press CTRL + SHIFT + Q
🔹 Example:
Typing the word حوب (without an alif) and searching with exact match will return zero results, because no verse contains the word in that exact form.
But if you type حوبا (with alif) and perform an exact match search, it will return:
“إِنَّهُ كَانَ فَاحِشَةً وَمَقْتًا وَسَاءَ سَبِيلًا ﴿١٥١﴾ وَآتُوا الْيَتَامَىٰ أَمْوَالَهُمْ وَلَا تَتَبَدَّلُوا الْخَبِيثَ بِالطَّيِّبِ…”
(Surah An-Nisa, 4:2)
Because that is the exact word used in the verse.
3. Keyboard Shortcuts at a Glance
